Ho Ho Ho

"Ho Ho Ho" was Kinley's favorite word to say throughout Christmas. Anytime she saw anything Santa or looked like Santa, she would say "ho ho ho." We finally made it to see Santa on the 22nd of December. She saw him from far away and was so excited. Then it was her turn and she wasn't quite sure and then Santa put his arm around me. She freaked out! So we hurry and got a quick picture!

The Riverwoods down in Provo has lots of fun lights and Christmas decorations so we spent some time walking around. Kinley loves Christmas and enjoyed seeing all the fun lights.

5 Down....How Many More To Go?

In between Thanksgiving and Christmas, I decided that we weren't busy enough and that I needed to have my appendix taken out.
Okay that is not exactly true. I started having some pain on a Saturday night and went to the doctor on Sunday and found out that I had to go in for surgery. I was not happy and pretended that nothing hurt anymore and I just wanted to go home. I was really nervous for this surgery, even though it was my 5th. But we have great friends and family that were there to help. Jeff and Kitani were so nice and stayed the night with Kinley so that Dusty could stay with me. My surgery was so late that they wanted me there over night. Then my sister came and picked up Kinley and took her back to her house for a few days so that I could get some good healing time in since I wasn't suppose to pick her up.
The recovery went really well and I am feeling good. We are so blessed that everything went smoothly!

Thanksgiving Weekend

This year Thanksgiving was at our house. My mom drove up from Vegas, and Tia's fam down from Idaho. My grandma and grandpa came and so did my cousin Hannah. It was fun having everyone there (and also great that my mom did the cooking, and it was delicious!!!) We had a great weekend with everyone. Side note - I didn't get any pictures of Kinley, Dax or my mom on Thanksgiving. Not sure how that happened

For my birthday this year, my sister got me tickets to see My Fair Lady up at the Hale Center Theatre. We had such a good time! The play was great and it was nice to hang out, just the 2 of us. Dusty was awesome and watched all of the kids so we could go. Thanks Tia!!

Bewitching Season

The Halloween season came up on us quick. Dusty's dad turned 60 and his mom asked me to do a surprise 60th Halloween party (I still need to get the pics from Chandi, her and I spent a lot of time putting everything together) So my time was spent planning this awesome party. We didn't make it to a pumpkin patch or Gardner Village, but we still got to enjoy my favorite holiday with a party

We had a lot of fun on Halloween. During the day we didn't do much. Dusty was able to go fishing with his dad and didn't get back till late so we just hung out at the house. Jeff, Kitani and Cort came over and that is always a good time. We decided to paint pumpkins, but Kitani and I were the only ones that did it. Kinley was going to wear her bee costume but was having none of it so she was a cat twice :)

Have you ever had one of those nights that you know you aren't going to ever forget? I had one of those on the 25th of October with Kitani. Dusty surprised me with tickets to go see the play 'Menopause the Musical' with Kitani. We were excited to have a adult girl's night while the boys watched the kids. We headed up to Salt Lake and headed over to the Gateway for some dinner before the play. We decided on Ztejas (which we refer to as Zendejas, in honor of our friend Karly) as we both wanted to try something new.

When we walked into the restaraunt the guy at the host desk said "I don't work here." Kitani and I must have looked quite confused because then he went into well he works for the company but not at that specific location, but that he was from corporate. Someone that actually "worked" there came and saved us and showed us to our table. After dinner we had a little time to kill so we decided to walk around the shops. We went to Anthropologie and the Z gallerie, where I found an amazing glitter skeleton for $9 because all of their Halloween was marked down 70%. I love it when that happens. Anyway, we are just taking our time talking about everything that we want and that we could probably make most of the things in the stores because we are so crafty and experienced (yeah not so much). Kitani then realizes that we have exactly 17 minutes to be to the play. So we head back to the car. The only problem with that statement, is that we could not find the car. (Sidenote: n a normal occasion this never would have happened to us. We are both always looking around us when we park and making sure that we knew which level we are on) We went down the stair and down the escalators and back up. I knew that the level we had parked on was an orange/red color but that was pretty much it, and the majority are that color. So we continue to search, at this point we are laughing and can't believe that this is happening to us. We don't think we are going to make it to the play, so we are just laughing and still looking for the car. AHHHH, success! The car has been found. We hurry throw our bags in and head out. We pull up google maps for directions and head out. I love google maps, but not so much this time. I am driving and going the wrong way, but eventually get back on track. I am speeding and cutting people off, but I don't care, I have 5 minutes until the play starts and the whole time Kitani and I continue to laugh. We find the theater and there is parking right across the street. We pull in and go to the kiosk to pay. The people in front of us couldn't quite figure it out and I am about ready to elbow my way in. But I wait. Finally we pay and I run back to put the ticket on the car. We then run across the street and into the building. At this point, I am delusional and getting out of breath from the running and laughing. I see an old man who looks offical in a uniform and frantically ask where will call is. I am surprised I didn't give him a heart attack with how frantic I have become. He points me down the hall and Kitani and I take off running again. She is laughing and has to stop occasionaly because after a baby there is no doing anything while laughing. This makes me laugh harder. I find the hall but there is only a door with letters on the other side and no handle and I dont think that I can get it. Kitani is laughing at me because that is the door I go through. We get our tickets and run to our seats. Well we run to the wrong section and a nice lady informs us to head up the stairs because we are on the front row of the balacony. So we run up the flight of stairs and find our seats. We are 5 minutes late but they still let us in. We sit down and are still laughing because we can't believe it happened to us. The play didn't start for another 5 minutes (they must have known that Utah runs on Mormon Standard Time). The play was hilarious, having gone through medical menopause myself, I completely related. It is a must see! Kitani and I then enjoyed a nice ride home where laughing continued. It was a night that I am sure we won't forget.

Sorry if this post rambled and it didn't make any sense. It was all clear in my mind, but that does not mean that it will make sense to anyone else.

As a side note: anyone seen A league of their own? Well the not so cute one that has to be made over, she was one of the 4 ladies in the play. I thought it was kind of funny!

Jackson Hole in the Fall

In October, Dusty had a chance to do a clinic in Jackson Hole. I had grown up going there every summer, and Dusty had never been. So we thought it would be a fun time to go. We had a great long weekend. It was completely different than summer, but still a lot of fun. The weather stayed pretty nice (we were worried it was going to snow) and we did a lot of walking around and seeing all of the fall colors. We also ate at some delicious places and just enjoyed being able to get away with the 3 of us.

During the fall we were able to go to Idaho a few times to visit Tia Tia and the kids. It was a lot of fun. Matt and Tia took us out on the boat, we played lots of games, did some crafts, and just spent time together. Thanks for being so willing to let us crash at your house. We had lots of fun.

A year ago today, Dusty and I were blessed with this sweet little girl. Kinley came into our life and completely changed it. We love having her a part of our family. She keeps us on our toes and already has a very big personality. A few facts about Kinley and some pictures of her growing up

- She loves when her dad comes home

- She loves to play patty cake and now is "tossing" it in the oven

- She loves to find her belly button and other people's

- She likes to be chased while going up the stairs

- She likes the attention on her. If you haven't looked at her in awhile she makes a loud noise just to make sure you didn't forget about her

- She is a good eater, and isn't picky

This last weekend was Art City Days. This year was a little more fun because Dusty was involved as a firefighter/paremdic at the Fireman's Breakfast. Kinley and I are so proud of him! We went to the breakfast, parade, car show and carnival. We love living in a community that is so great!

Last week Kinley and I spent the week up in Idaho at my sister's. It was a lot of fun to spend time with her family and I think Dusty enjoyed the break and was able to sleep very well.

Grimaldi's - best pizza! It is over in Brooklyn and we had to wait about an hour and a half but I would for sure wait again! Kinley loved the crust

In May we made a trip out to New York. It was so much fun and Kinley is a great traveler! We stayed with our amazing friends Karly and Carlos and they were the perfect guides and it was so good to see them and hang out with them again!

I am VERY proud to say that I packed for a week trip in 2 carry on suitcases, 2 personal items, a diaper bag and a stroller. I am was pretty amazed with myself :)

Fresh Herbs

I love using fresh herbs, but I never think to buy them at the store and so I never have them. This year I decided to plant some fresh herbs that I could use anytime.

I have to admit, I haven't used them as much as I would like but I am working on it, and I love having fresh herbs so readily available, right on my front porch.

Easter Sunday was great this year. I always love going to church on holidays because it is a great reminder about what the holiday is all about. The talks were really good and the music awesome.

Chayote Squash

I love Bounitful Baskets. It is an awesome way to get produce for a better price and let me try new produce that I never would buy at the store. There are times that I don't know what certain things are or what to do with them. For example, last week I got a chayote squash. I recieved 3 of them, and they have sat there for a week because I just did not know what to do with them. I googled recipes, nothing sounded great so finally I just decided that I would make it into some baby food for Kinley. She eats a lot of stuff, so she might eat this. Well today, I get it all cut up and started cooking when I realize that the top of my fingers on my left hand are starting to feel a little numb. I wash my hands and I was them again, still numb. I look down and the tops are kind of white like there is no circulation getting to them. I start freaking out, Dusty calmly tells me to look up side effects. I do and realize that I am not loosing my mind and it has happened to others. The sap of the chayote squash can leave a numb/tingly feeling that should go away within a day, oh and another awesome side effect, it will make your hands peel and take off a layer of skin.

So that is my adventure today in cooking - don't use chayote squah. (the flavor wasn't very good anyway) or if you do decide to try it, where gloves while cutting it just in case :)

Tia and her kids came and visited us this week and we loved having them here. We had a lot of fun while they were here. We did a little shopping, went to the park, got some cupcakes at Cupcake Chic (which Tia also agrees are amazing) and just spent some time hanging out. We love having them come visit.

I am finally getting around to doing a full post on Kitani's baby shower that I did back in the middle of March. That seems like awhile ago. Kitani is now 38 weeks, and we can't wait to meet this little guy! Jeff and Kitani are some of our best friends and I was excited that I was able to do this for her.

Disclaimer: I could never pull off a shower like this (or any shower really) without my mom. She pretty much did everything and just told me what to do.

We did a baby brunch and the menu consisted off: chicken bundles (request of Kitani), bacon artisan pizzas, mini breakfast caseroles, mini raspberry creme cake, mini cinnamon crescents, muesli fruit parfait, and chocolate dipped strawberries. All delicious!

California Girls

This last weekend I went to California with my sister and mom and some of her friends. We had a lot of fun. Here are some pictures from the trip.

I have wanted to go there for awhile. Ever since I started watching Cupcake Wars on Food Network

I got Peanut Butter Chocolate, Chocolate Marshmellow (it was suppose to be like a Hostess Cupcake, but better) and a Red Velvet

Here is my review:

Peanut Butter Chocolate: I liked it. The cake wasn't super moist but it was still good. Everyone else had a complaint about this cupcake because they didn't think it had enough peanut butter flavor

Chocolate Marshmellow: did not like - I would take a Hostess cupcake any day over this one

Red Velvet: SO GOOD! I thought it was very delicious

So overall I was not impressed, and they were not worth $3. Go to Cupcake Chic in Orem they kicked Sprinkles butt!

Today as I was thinking of something that made me happy, my family kept coming to my mind. I am so grateful for them. It is not always roses and romance, but we laugh a lot, love spending time together and really do love one another. I couldn't do it without Dusty or Kinley. I love my cute little family!!

Hope you guys didn't get too bored this month with all the posts, but I enjoyed really thinking about the stuff that makes me happy and hopefully you all got something out of it too.

This weekend was so busy and I didn't get a chance to post yesterday so I will have to do 2 today.

This weekend would not have been possible without my amazing hubby! I did a shower for Kitani on Saturday and I had stuff to get done and Dusty took time off of work on Friday so that I could go shopping for everything on Friday. When I got home my house was also cleaned and he got our outside ready as well. Friday night was spent cleaning up some more, keeping me company and doing anything that he could to help. And he didn't stop there, he woke up with Kinley last night so I could sleep and woke up bright and early and ran the last minute errands, hung the decorations and helped build the parfaits. And when it was all over he played with Kinley while I took a nap! (Sorry to go on and on, but I just had to let everyone know how amazing he is!) I don't think that I could ask for a better husband and that is why this post is dedicated to him. Dusty makes me so happy and I am so lucky that I have someone like him. He is always helping me with everything and is so supportive. He loves coming home to his girls and Kinley and I love to see him when he gets home. So thanks babe for making me so happy!!

Holidays are a days to do a little something extra that makes people happy! I love taking advantage of all of them. That probably comes from growing up in a house where my mom always made it holiday so fun! I hope that Kinley grows up to love the holidays as much as I do.

Today was St Patricks day and we all dressed in green! And had some green food to eat. It wasn't a lot, but it just made the day a little special. Hope no one got pinched today!

I feel like everywhere you look you see a new cupcake store pop up. They are the new craze. There are tv shows Cupcake Wars and DC Cupcakes (and yes I do watch them!) that talk all about them and how amazing they are. I like cupcakes just like the next person, but have never really LOVED them. Enter Cupcake Chic. It is a cupcake store that is in Orem by Costco. I happened to go in there one day to check it out and I was pleasantly surprised. They have DELICIOUS cupcakes. They actually taste homemade, not mass produced like so many other cupcake places in Utah. I have tried the Red Velvet, Chocolate, and Vanilla with Strawberry Icing. My fav has to be the Vanilla Strawberry. Today I converted my mom as well. She has never been a fan of the cupcake stores, but she agreed that they are amazing. I am half way through the Photo Challenge and I have enjoyed thinking of things that make me happy/grateful/inspired etc. I love the litle joys in life, and one of those for me is reality tv and one of my fav shows is The Bachelor. I love everything about it; the romanitc dates, the drama, the weirdness of group dates, the anticipation, the trips, the spoilers! Yes it is true, I read all the spoilers. It actually makes me enjoy the season even more. Knowing what is going to happen, makes me read into all the little things and the hints that the producers leave as to what is going to happen. Dusty and I watched the finale last night and I am glad that he chose Emily. I am also glad that they didn't put up a front and pretend everything was so great! They admitted having problems, and working on them like a real couple. Would I love to see them stay together? Of course! But I look at the track record of the show and see that the odds are not in their favor :)

I am excited for the Bachelorette and the Bachelor Pad. Maybe I will start doing recaps on my blog when they start. What do you think?

One of my favorite vacations that Dusty and I ever took was to Cancun. We had been married 5 months and were excited to have a real honeymoon. We did a lot of fun things; the Mayan ruins, Xcaret, the beach, delicious food, relaxing. Hopefully we get back there again someday!!

With all this cold weather it has got me thinking about somewhere warm, and I wouldn't mind being in Cancun right now.

So Thursday when I was at Disney on Ice I caught this picture on my phone. It was a dad dressed up as Buzz Lightyear and his little girl as Jessie. I just looked at that and said "that is one dedicated dad." I thought it was really sweet and just made me happy to see a dad so willing to dress up just to make his daughter happy. (either that or he was just really into dressing up, which makes me laugh too!) Kids really do change your life for the better!

Dusty and I got lucky with some awesome nieces and nephews and Kinley has some great cousins. Trae, Kira, Dax, Aiden and Rilyn are all so much fun and have such different personalities. Our families wouldn't be complete without anyone of them. I love that they all live within driving distance and that we are able to spend time with them whenever we get the chance. I got a chance tonight to spend time with Trae, Kira and Tia at Disney on Ice. It was a lot of fun and the kids really liked it. I am lucky to be their YaYa. Thanks Tia for the invite!

Photo Challenge Day 9/30- Paris

One place that I have always loved since I was a little girl has been Paris. I love everything about it; the architecture, the language, the cafes, etc.

I have never been able to take a vacation there, but one day I will since it is my number one spot.

Paris has even inspired me in my decorating choices in my home. Orginally I wanted to do our bedroom with a Paris theme, but no I have moved it down to our family room and kitchen. I love the idea of having a French Bistro as a focal point in my kitchen and using it throughout the downstairs. In fact while in Vegas we bought a painting of Paris. I will post pictures while we finally decide wear to hang it!

One of my favorite things to do is read. If I am not careful I could read all day. One of my favorite presents has been my Kindle. I love that I can have a bunch of books and not have to worry about where I am going to put them, and if we ever move that I don't have to worry about how heavy they are!

While in Vegas this last weekend, I didn't take a lot of pictures so I posted the couple that I did because this weekend with my mom made me very happy! She is a lot of fun to be around and we had a great time just relaxing and hanging out. I love date night with my hubby! It is so nice to get out and not have to worry about the baby for a couple of hours. My mom watched Kinley last night so that we could grab some dinner at BJ's (another thing that also makes me very happy) and go watch the fountain shows down at the Bellagio. There was some excellent people watching down there last night!

Everyone told Dusty and I that when we had a kid that we wouldn't be able to take spontaneious trips anymore but that doesn't seem to be the case. I agreed and we are getting all packed up and getting on the road!

I planned on doing a post about music that made me happy sometime during this challenge but today seemed like the perfect day to do it since it is Jon Bon Jovi's birthday!

I have loved Bon Jovi it seems like forever. I love the music but I also think that he is a major hottie! One of my favorite dances while on my high school dance team was You Give Love a Bad Name. Thank you Bon Jovi for making me happy :)

One of the most simple things in life that makes me happy is getting mail! I love that feeling that someone took their time and went out of their way (to the post office) to send you something! Boys' Moab Trip

Dusty was so lucky that Jeff invited him to go jeeping in Moab this past weekend. He had so much fun! It was a boys' trip; Dusty, Jeff, Trenton, Eric (Jeff's brother), and Jeff's dad. They had a blast! Thanks again Jeff for inviting Dusty!!

Is Three a Crowd?

Valentines this year was really low key, but a lot of fun!

We went and visited Dusty at work. Everyone loved her little valentine skirt

I did a picnic dinner for Dusty - here is part of the set up. I didn't get a picture with it all done, so it actually looked better :) haha

Kinley slept through half of dinner and then decided that she wanted to get in on the party. Even though it ended up not being just Dusty and I for a "romantic" dinner, we enjoyed having Kinley there with us. Three is def not a crowd!

6 Months

Kinley is now 6 months old! Crazy how fast the time has gone.

We went in for her doctor appt and she is a growing girl. She is now 17 lbs 10 oz (75%) and 27 inches (90%)! Some things that she is up to now

- She loves to sit up

- She can roll over when she wants to, but it never really interests her

- Bananas are her favorite food. She has liked everything we have given her but carrots

- She knows when Dusty gets home and is so excited to see him

- She loves anything soft on her face

- She loves to play with our phones, ipod and computer and gets mad if you don't let her help

- She is still loving her tongue and loves to chew on it all of the time

We have been having a lot of fun and staying busy.

Vegas Baby!

Not only is Kinley now a California Baby, she is also a Vegas Baby (maybe she just likes all the warm weather) We spent a few days in Vegas after Cali before heading back to Utah. We love spending time with Grammy!

The last day we were in California, we went to the Farmers Market. They had a lot of fresh produce, delicious bread, and all sorts of fun stuff. I wish that we could have farmers markets year round.

The Tonight Show with Jason Stathom

While we were in California, Dusty really wanted to go to the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. I am not a huge fan but decided that it would be fun. It was totally worth it because Jason Stathom (Italian Job, The Transporter, etc) was going to be the guest! I love him!!! We went with Jeff and Kitani and my mom was awesome and watched Kinley for us. She said that her and Kinley would hang out on the beach all day. It was a raly fun experience. My favorite part, aside from Jason Stathom, was the band. They were awesome and really entertaining.

We went to the beach the next morning. I love the ocean! We hung out there for a little bit. Kinley wasn't quite sure at first, but she liked it after she got used to everything

We had been needing to get out of Utah and the miserable cold weather, so we made our way down to Vegas and California for the last 10 days. It was a much needed break from life and cold weather, and Kinley has officialy become a California Girl!

This last weekend, we went out with Jeff and Kitani to dinner at to the Flash game. We had a great night. Kinley was all about watching the game and she did really good! In the middle of the game she found her tongue. It was hilarious, she was doing all sorts of tricks with it!

For New Year's Eve this year, Dusty cousin Alesha and her husband David had a party. We left Kinley at home with my mom, and went to have a good time. David and Alesha had great games planned, delicious food, and fun people there. We had a great time! Thanks David and Alesha. We had a great time!!

We Wish You a Merry Christmas

Christmas was a lot of fun! Kinley didn't know quite what was going on, but she still had a good time. It was fun being with Tia's family and my mom. We opened presents all day because the kids wanted to play with their presents in between. It was great! Kinley just woke up with her rosey cheeks!

Santa Claus is Coming to Town

We headed up to Idaho for Christmas and stayed at Tia's. It was so much fun. I love being with all of my family!! Christmas Eve we went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse and it was delicious! Then we came back, opened a few presents and got changed into our matching pajamas. It is one of my favorite traditions. Here are a few pics from the night.

One of my good friends, Whitney, from high school had a baby the day after I had Kinley (which means he was born the coolest day of the year - my birthday) and we haven't been able to see each other since the babies were born. So Boden and Kinley finally got to meet! It was so fun to see how different they are. He is a cutie! And it was great seeing Whitney and Brady too. Miss you guys!
